CAN Cycle Friendly Awards

Who shall we nominate for the Champion? What are worthy projects?

If the entry is received by 25th July the nominating person goes in a draw to win a $150 Ground Effect voucher. All entries close on Friday 8th August 2008.

The Cycle-friendly Awards acknowledge and celebrate the most notable achievements undertaken between January '07 and June '08. For more info see: www.can.org.nz/awards
Download entry forms: DOC (506 Kb) Awards will be presented on Friday 3rd October in Christchurch, by the Hon. Annette King, Minister of Transport.
There are 5 categories:

1. Avanti award for best cycle facility project;

2. Land Transport NZ award for best cycling promotion;

3. Land Transport NZ award for cycle-friendly commitment by a business;

4. ViaStrada award for cycle-friendly commitment by a public organisation; and

5. Roger Boulter Consulting award for cycling champion of the year

[supported by Ministry of Transport & Environment Canterbury]

Nominate Matai St pathway

New Matai St pathway (Railway - Straven) should be nominated; it features a number of innovative (well, for NZ anyway) design aspects. And we had enough trouble convincing the politicians to give it a go, so an award for it would certainly vindicate things!

No, don't look at me for writing the nomination, too busy...
