Help wanted - Spokes media stars!

Hey all - we are the media darlings of the moment... I've been contacted by no less than three TV stations today, and I need your help to boost the profile of Chch cycling.

1) TV3 are putting together a story about high petrol prices, and would like to interview "someone who has taken up or increased cycling in a bid to save on petrol money.
Ideally someone who has stopped driving to work/university and now bikes and is already making a tangible financial and/or environmental of health saving/benefit by leaving the car at home more
. "

Update - we now have a suitable person for this one - Thanks Shirley (Robin D's partner).

2) TV One Breakfast want to profile Christchurch cycling as part of "Tamati's Transport Tuesdays" next week (27 May). They would like 15-20 cyclists to meet up on Hagley Park - probably over by the Harper Ave crossing lights at 7 a.m.

It sounds like a good kind of story - profiling different types of transport in partnership with LTNZ. Tamati (Breakfast's roving weather guy) will be on a bike too. An example of Tamati joining a walking school bus can be seen here.

They'd especially like to see a few "different" bikes, e.g. recumbents, trailers. I'll ask on Monday it's worth anyone coming a bit later (it is still dark at 7am!). But be good to have some hardy souls out there at 7.

Still want to get a few more people confirmed for this. Please contact me if you are a starter.

3) The third one was CTV - I am appearing on a panel of speakers (Bob Parker, Mayor of Chch, Sir Kerry Burke, Chair of ECan and yours truly, Chair of Spokes!) to talk about the recently-announced Canterbury transport funding package. Not requesting any help with this one, but you may want to tune in... if I've got it right the show is called Newsmakers and screens 1.30 and 8.30 pm Saturday and 4.30pm Sunday.

Yep, those are the times - tune in then if you want to watch... it went pretty well I thought. Feedback welcome. P
