World Car Free Day event - Toast is Fuel

World Car Free Day is nearly upon us again. In 2007 Spokes teamed up with Christchurch Green Party members to run a "Free Fuel - Toast is Fuel!" event at a busy city intersection.

Enticed with large "Free Fuel" signs, bemused motorists were offered, during the red light phase, fresh slices of toasted bread, with jam and butter, along with information about how Toast as Fuel would propel them on a bike for a quarter of what they were paying to travel by car. We also fed some cyclists, pedestrians and even a bus driver!

This year the Greens are doing it again, and invite any keen Spokesters to join in! Just contact David Moorhouse (greensATmoorhouse.net.nz) to register your interest. If you have a gas cooker that makes a reasonable piece of toast, David would love to hear from you. Pass the Jam!
