23 May 2007 - 21:30
Event Type:
Meeting
Organiser:
Matthew Cutler-Welsh
Description:

Waiau Theatrette, Environment Canterbury, Kilmore St, Christchurch

It's that time of the year again when Spokes Canterbury holds its Annual General Meeting. This is our chance to formally report on what we have been up to in the past year, and seek advice (and some new faces!) for the coming year.

Now we know that AGMs are not seen as the most exciting events! So, to follow the (brief!) formal proceedings, we have a guest presentation from City Councillor and mayoral candidate Bob Parker to discuss his vision for sustainable development in Christchurch.

Bob Parker has been a City Councillor for over a year since the amalgamation of Christchurch City and Banks Peninsula District. Previously he had been Mayor of Banks Peninsula since 2001. Since 2004 he also been the Chair of the Greater Christchurch Urban Development Strategy, which has sought to develop a plan for sustainable development of the district over the next few decades.

Following this very interesting seminar, there will be a demonstration of the new Spokes website, with tea and coffee. Prior to the AGM, a light supper will be provided from 7pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and find out more about Spokes and/or cycling in Christchurch/Canterbury - bring a friend! To assist with catering, please andrew [at] can [dot] org [dot] nz to Andrew ahead of time if you intend to come. See you there!
