Volunteers required for Cycle Powered Cinema
Volunteers required for Cycle Powered Cinema.
Location: cnr Dundas & Manchester Sts, (former site of Cycle Trading and Print Stop).
When: 9 - 11th February and then 15 - 18th February each evening.
Please come and watch the films, even if you don't want to volunteer. Jobs include...
1) CYCLE CINEMA ATTENDANTS
Volunteers will be needed on site each evening from 7:30pm - 10:30pm(ish) to:
* help set up the site;
* help people who arrive to put their bikes on the stands to generate power and get them secure. You can be taught how to do this - it's not hard. Also people getting off their bikes after 20 minutes riding MAY need a hand;
* help keep an eye on the site, monitoring crowd behaviour and capacity and if there are people on the road, getting them to stand on the footpath!
* other odd jobs that come up between now and then and on the nights.
There will be ten stands for ten bikes that will generate power for the PA system and projector. People are encouraged to ride their bike in and help us to generate the power.
It is fairly hard work, so we will likely have people ride 20 - 25 minute shifts then get off and sub with someone else.
Please specify what nights you are available. If you can IF POSSIBLE commit to 9-11th and/or 15-18th that would be great (so in a block of 3 or 4 days) that would be great as it makes it far easier for me. If you can't that's OK, just let me know what you can do.
A schedule will be made and Coralie will get back to all volunteers. For the first day of each block of films, ie 9th Feb and 15th Feb, people are encouraged to come earlier (from 7:00pm) to learn the ropes all as one group. That avoids having to teach everyone separately. Then those taught can teach others we hope.
2) POSTERING
Some people are also needed to do postering NEXT WEEK! It will require you to visit cycle shops, cafes and other places around the city. The more of you who agree to do this, the better. You will be putting up posters but especially at the cycle shops - talking to the owners/staff about the project. If they're excited, they'll tell their friends/clients/gang of
cyclists.
