Transit NZ - Lineside Road Interchange and Pineacres Intersection Improvements

The following is Spokes' draft submission on the Transit NZ proposal for these two locations north of Christchurch. Please add to it, either by leaving comments, or be editing the text (you need an account on this website to do so).

To whom it may concern

SPOKES appreciates the opportunity to make this submission. From a cyclist perspective, there are two major problems:
(1) - if Transit remove northbound access at Pineacres, how are cyclists (who are forbidden from going on the motorway) supposed to access SH1 north?
(2) - the proposed "cycle lanes" at Lineside interchange are a joke, requiring cyclists on the main road to give way to turning traffic. Given that signals will be controlling traffic here, it's even less obvious why Transit are proposing this. Cyclists should be provided for on the carriageway.
